Can I install a battery without solar panels?
Yes. All three batteries we install (EG4, Tesla Powerwall 3, FranklinWH) can charge from the grid alone. This gives you backup power during outages. But the economics are better with solar: you're storing free energy from your roof instead of buying from OG&E or PSO at 13+ cents/kWh to fill the battery. About 80% of our battery customers pair with solar.
How long will a battery power my home during an outage?
Depends on what you're powering. A single 13.5 kWh battery running essential loads (fridge, lights, internet, phone chargers) can last 12-24 hours. Add solar panels and the battery recharges during the day, extending backup indefinitely as long as the sun shines. Whole-home backup draws more power and drains faster, which is why we help you choose the right configuration.
Should I back up my whole house or just essential circuits?
It depends on what you're willing to go without during an outage. Essential backup (fridge, lights, internet, medical equipment) keeps one battery running 12-24 hours. Whole-home backup (including AC, dryer, oven) needs 2-3 batteries and drains faster. In Oklahoma, most ice storm outages last 1-3 days. We size the system to match your risk tolerance and budget during the site assessment.
I already have solar. Can I retrofit a battery?
Almost always. The Tesla Powerwall 3 and FranklinWH are both AC-coupled, meaning they work with any existing solar system regardless of inverter type. EG4 works best with hybrid inverters. We inspect your current setup, check your panel capacity, and recommend the battery that integrates cleanest. Typical retrofit install takes one day.

Where does the battery get installed?
Most batteries mount on a garage wall near your electrical panel. Some can be installed outdoors. We choose the location based on your panel location, cable runs and local code requirements. All three systems are rated for indoor and outdoor installation.
What's the installed cost for a battery system?
Single battery (essential backup): $10,000-$15,000 installed. Whole-home backup (2-3 batteries): $20,000-$40,000 depending on brand and capacity. EG4 is the most cost-effective per kWh. Tesla Powerwall 3 is mid-range. FranklinWH is the premium option with the longest warranty. Every quote includes installation, permitting, electrical work, and our 10-year workmanship guarantee.
What maintenance does a battery require?
Almost none. Home batteries are sealed units with no moving parts. The system monitors itself and sends alerts through the app if anything needs attention. We can access diagnostics remotely. All three brands handle their own thermal management. Just keep the area around the battery clear and check on it occasionally.
